Whether you have been a runner for years, or you are new to the long-distance running game, we all know that there is power in numbers. Joining a running club can have many mental and physical benefits. You can find other people like you, gain local knowledge, give yourself a sense of competition, get advice, find new events to participate in or even motivation to keep training (especially right now).
We are fortunate enough to not only have several running clubs in the metro-Detroit area, but also, clubs that serve a greater purpose. Check out their spotlights below and see if one of them is right for you:

Black Girls RUN!
About Black Girls RUN!: BGR was established in 2009. The group provides encouragement, inspiration, motivation and support for women of all ages to live healthy and active lifestyles. We pride ourselves in having a safe space for women that look like us to be active on the pavement. Our sisterhood motto is No Woman Left Behind. The national organization was also founded to help tackle the growing obesity epidemic in the African-American community and provide encouragement and resources to both new and veteran runners.
How can someone get involved in Black Girls RUN!: The Detroit chapter of BGR has a private Facebook page open to women. All races and ethnicities are welcome. To join, go to this link then answer the three custom questions: Join Black Girls RUN! Detroit
